Frequently Asked Questions

Can we purchase resources at the SJM?
Yes, they have a great collection of books, children's books and artefacts - ask the person at the front desk if you can view resources for teachers.

What money will we need?
You will need to cover the cost of all meals each day, and note that a few restaurants around the area charge cheaper prices but are cash only.  Resources at the SJM can be purchased using credit card.  As a price guide a small seder plate for children might be $15 and a large book with a pull out section detailing the history of the Jewish people is around $65.

Can I take photos?
Yes, but only close up.

Why are there security guards at the SJM and the Synagogues?
Some of the artifacts contained in the museum are irreplaceable. Additional security is also provided because unfortunately anti-Semitism still exists in Australia.

Do I need to bring an ipad / notebook / pen?
Copies of the power point will be provided for you but the slides usually don't have the information that the presenter provides verbally, so note taking can be very helpful.
